Despite controversy, Trump supporters remain loyal

Nearly five months have passed since U.S. President Donald Trump took office, putting into place a string of controversial reforms. 

His supporters, though, remain loyal, continuing to back his agenda unwaveringly, while for his opponents, his policies are more fuel for their rage.

During last year's U.S. presidential election, TVB visited Auntie Bik, who owns a jewelry store in San Francisco's Chinatown. 

Her store was robbed during the Biden administration, amounting to a loss of 40,000 Hong Kong dollars. She blamed the arrival of illegal immigrants and supported Trump's deportation efforts.

Half a year later, Auntie Bik remains a loyal supporter. She believes that illegal immigration causes crime and wastes resources. She hopes that enforcing strict immigration control will allow the government to focus on improving the economy. 

Ellen Lee Zhou ran for mayor of San Francisco last year, centring her campaign on Trump's America First policy. Despite losing the election, she continues to promote Trump's policies and economic reforms. 

Travis, who works in a church, is frustrated by the government's push in recent years to prioritise diversity and gender inclusivity in school settings, what he believes to be a waste of resources. 

TRAVIS LEWIS, Trump Supporter: "Department of Education, useless. We were talking about that back 20 years ago. Why are they there? They don't do anything. He should have cut it."

Sam, who once identified as a Democrat, switched her support to Trump in 2016.

SAM, Trump Supporter: "When I was a Democrat, a lot of what I believed in was just parroted from what other people told me to believe."

Trump previously indicated that he had no intention of running for a third term as president in 2028.

However, many Republicans argue that the U.S. will continue to require strong leadership and support his re-election.
