The Observatory will issue the Strong Wind Signal No. 3 at 12.20pm.
Tropical cyclone Wutip is on a northeast track crossing the Beibu Wan. Wutip is expected to make landfall over Leizhou Peninsula around noon.
Its outer circulation has brought showers to the coast of Guangdong. Strong winds will continue over and around the Pearl River Estuary.
As Wutip moves further inland it will weaken. Wind strength should lessen tomorrow but rain will continue and will be heavy at times.
