Several traffic accidents occurred around the city this morning, including one that left one motorcyclist dead after a container truck crashed into his vehicle at the entrance of Nam Wan Tunnel in Tsing Yi.

Online footage showed the moment a container truck struck a motorcycle, with the body of the former shaking from the impact.

The incident happened at around 8:30 a.m. when the container truck was driving on Tsing Sha Highway before it crashed into a motorcycle in front of it just before entering Nam Wan Tunnel.

The truck then swerved across two lanes before hitting a private car.

The motorcyclist was confirmed dead on site.

Police officers were seen getting a statement from the 66-year-old truck diver, who was subsequently arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving causing death.

This as another five-vehicle pile-up involving four private cars and one taxi occurred on Tsing Ma Bridge at around 7:30 this morning, after one of the vehicles was suspected of failing to brake in time.

One of the private cars could be seen partially lying on top of the taxi after the crash.

The taxi sustained serious damage to the front, while three people suffered from light injuries during the incident.

At around the same time, a six-vehicle pile-up happened on Lung Cheung Road near Choi Hung Estate.

One of the vehicles was seen positioned on top of the roadside barrier.

Two people sustained minor injuries.
