With the IOMed headquartered in Hong Kong, it's expected that demand for legal translation and tourism services will increase.

TVB News spoke with a local online mediation platform that may soon offer real-time transcription and translation services at IOMed.

When it comes to conflicts and disputes, people seek the best possible outcomes. But how can mediation achieve this when language barriers exist?

This online mediation and arbitration platform, supported by the SAR's Department of Justice, may hold the key.

ALBERT LEUNG, Acting CEO of Online Dispute Resolution Centre: "Our online mediation platforms leverage AI (where) people can do mediation anytime and anywhere. The platform can resolve their language barrier with real-time transcript and translation. We can help the IOMed to engage mediation online to do state-to-state mediation in the future."

The platform supports over ten languages, including English, Spanish, Urdu, and Thai. It also incorporates facial recognition technology to verify user identities.

In the past three years, this platform has managed approximately 100 mediation and arbitration cases.

With an increasing number of international professionals choosing Hong Kong for mediation, the local tourism industry is also poised to benefit.

JACK TANG, Travel Agency Founder: "They're the official group, or from the big company. But I think Hong Kong has the confidence for the coach and the hotel. But I think the translator is one of the problems. Maybe some of them come from different countries or have different languages. So this is a little problem for the translator. We do have the basic package already, so we will see what the extra thing they need and we will add on."

Tang also believes that Hong Kong's hotel and reception capacity is high enough to accommodate high-end guests. In the future, the itinerary for local sightseeing will be designed according to their needs.
