Tomorrow is Dragon Boat Festival, which is set to kick off a three-day holiday on the mainland.

Bus operator Citybus has introduced a new open-top bus to take tourists to various attractions in the city.

This brand new open-top bus is named "Pride of Hong Kong," decorated with icons such as giant pandas, and city day-and-night scenes.

At 11 metres long, the bus is suitable for travelling around urban areas.

It has a maximum capacity of 126 passengers.

The themed bus will run on six routes, on which revellers can pass by various tourist attractions, such as Ocean Park, Temple Street and the West Kowloon Cultural District.

Together with 17 other open-top buses, the fleet will carry 7,000 passengers a day during the upcoming Dragon Boat Festival extended holiday for mainland visitors.

Citybus said they will provide services during the peak times with frequencies of up to every 7 minutes.

To better facilitate the payment process and shorten queues, the bus operator has set up a paid zone at the terminal in Central, where passengers can pay fares in advance with assistance from bus staff.

Passengers will receive a pre-paid card which staff members will collect before they get on the bus.

Next month, Citybus will launch a new open-top bus fleet route that passes Ngong Ping, Disneyland and the Airport.

Richard Hall, Managing Director of Citybus said, "tourists and citizens will have the unique opportunity to witness the take-off and landing of aeroplanes from our unprecedented angle on our open-top buses. Plus utilising the Ngong Ping 360 to explore the tourist hotspots, like the "Four Peak Tourism."

Looking ahead, the bus company's spokesperson said they are also setting their sights on scaling up the open-top bus fleet.
