A question and answer session between Chief Executive John Lee and lawmakers started at 10:30 a.m. at Legislative Council.
The first session focused on how Hong Kong could strengthen its international exchanges and cooperation with other countries.
Wong Kam-Fai, Election Committee Constituency: "To promote more large scale academic summits, we want more top-notch academic talent to come here. With more exchange, people from outside would get to know the true situation here, and we would get people to come here and they would help us attract talent."
JOHN LEE, Chief Executive: "I do agree that we should promote our strengths in education. We should showcase ourselves to the world what we can do and that include summit events. But that's only so much the government can do. We need different sectors to play their parts as well. Schools, universities, heads of universities, we should all work together. Now, we can see there are university students facing discriminatory, unfair treatments from the U.S., but to attract students here, we will need the sector to help."
