In China's Guizhou Province, a 500-metre aperture spherical radio telescope, which is the world's largest single dish, is expected to see a 20-percent surge in the number of tourists this year.

The FAST radio telescope, also known as the China Sky Eye, is situated in Pingtang County in Guizhou.

The tourist spot received over 60,000 tourists over the Labour Day Golden Week holiday. It recorded close to 1.3 million visits in 2024, up 13 percent year-on-year.

After it was put into operation in 2020, the telescope discovered more than one thousand pulsars, including a rare millisecond pulsar just identified last week, in a bid to create a navigation system for the universe.
