Several areas around Tuen Mun have experienced water problems after a water pipe burst incident on Tuen Mun Road.

The pipe has yet to be fixed after more than half a day of repair work being done.

Huge portions of the Tuen Mun area have ceased supplying drinking water tonight.

This as some local district councillors estimated around 150,000 people have been affected.

Authorities announced at 7 p.m. that in order to assist the repair work for the damaged pipe, several areas in Tuen Mun have halted supply of drinking water starting at 11 p.m.

The Water Supplies Department arranged eight water trucks and 120 water tanks to provide temporary relief for affected residents.

Hospitals including Tuen Mun Hospital, Castle Peak Hospital and Siu Lam Hospital were not exempt from water supply problems.

Hospital services remain unaffected.

This after the Water Supplies Department received reports on Tuesday morning of a burst water pipe near the Siu Hong MTR Station.
