CE criticises MTR for Tseung Kwan O Line disruption and calls for improvement

Chief Executive John Lee criticised the MTR for the service interuption of its Tseung Kwan O Line during rush hour last week.
He highlighted there are ways the public transport provider could improve its responses to emergency situations.
The CE said there are four requirements that the MTR and relevant government departments have to follow to address the situation.
They include the need for the MTR to inspect all of its rail networks and improve their level of maintenance, while reinforcing emergency protocols.
That's in addition to increasing alternative transport arrangements and designing more effective mechanisms for announcements.
The CE instructed the Transport and Logistics Bureau and other departments to strengthen their oversight of the MTR's five-year improvement plan.
