U.S. homeland security secretary in Israel as airstrikes in Gaza continue

U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem arrived in Israel on Sunday and met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
This as Israeli strikes killed at least 40 people in the Gaza Strip early today, including 25 in a school-turned-shelter that was struck as people slept.
Meanwhile, the head of a private humanitarian organisation tasked with distributing aid in Gaza through an Israeli-initiated plan resigned, saying he could not abandon principles of humanity, impartiality and independence.
U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem's arrival in Israel comes as Israel is pursuing a new U.S.-backed plan to control all aid to Gaza, which the United Nations has rejected, and following an attack on Thursday in which two members of the Israeli Embassy in Washington were killed.
Noem visited the Western Wall, putting paper into the wall -- a Jewish tradition seen as a form of prayer and personal message to God. She then chatted to Israeli women.
This as the Israeli military released video of its troops in action, saying its troops were continuing their operation in the Gaza Strip in order to protect the security of Israeli victims.
Gaza's health ministry said 3,747 people have been killed in the strip since Israel resumed the war on March 18th in an effort to pressure Hamas to accept different ceasefire terms. And more than 430,000 people have been on the move since then.
For Ne'man Abu Jarad and his family which includes six daughters, it is the 10th time in nearly 20 months of the campaign in Gaza they have been forced to uproot and flee.
This time is the most painful as displacement is unfurling under the shadow of famine. Israel had blocked all food, fuel, medicine and other supplies from entering Gaza since March 2nd, and it was not until the past week that Israel let in a trickle of supplies which aid groups say are far short of what is needed.
