Aviation remains a male-dominated field, but a Hong Kong trainee female pilot is determined to break gender stereotypes and prove women are equally capable in the cockpit.

Natalie, a Hong Kong trainee pilot learning her craft in Redding, California, used to work in the science field.

She was inspired to switch careers after watching a TVB drama on aviation.

Her class reflects aviation's gender imbalance.

People questioned whether women could really become pilots.

On her career change, Natalie says with family support and her mechanical expertise, she adapted quickly. Through determination, she overcame initial challenges, including airsickness.

It is her true passion, so she pushed through until her body adjusted.

Regarding concerns about her smaller physique, Natalie has a solution - a cushion

Modern aircraft are advanced, with adjustable seats and rudder pedals, she says her limbs are long enough to give her full control.

Natalie also gets along well with male classmates.

They would play flight simulator together and her classmates vouch her skills.

Arnold says she is very detail-oriented and follow procedures strictly, making them feel secure flying with her.

The flight school notes female pilots possess many strengths, but longstanding stereotypes have discouraged women from entering the field.

Conrad Wurschmidt, head of training, ISACO Flight Training said, "women have the ability to multitask. We just need to have clear communication about the ability that women can and do succeed in this environment if they try".

Natalie hopes to encourage more women who dream of being pilots. Don't hesitate, and believe in themselves.
