The Guangdong Art Centennial Exhibition is being held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre today. It includes over 160 works of art by modern masters.

The event is co-organized by the Hong Kong and Guangdong governments. The exhibition runs until June 2, with free admission for all visitors.

The "Pine Greets Guest" scroll is the largest piece in the exhibition, made up of eight scrolls.

Created by Li Xiong Cai, a second-generation painter of the Lingnan school of art, every stroke and detail is precise. These white herons were painted using traditional Chinese ink techniques blended with oil painting skills.

The painter, Lin Feng Mian, was one of the earliest masters to study abroad and as he mixed Chinese painting skill with Western influence.

Printmaking emerged as a vital art form in the last century during a time of significant movements, revolutions, and wars in China.

This piece, titled "The Last Bullet," vividly captured the battlefield of the Sino-Japanese War. It is part of the collection celebrating the 80th anniversary of victory in that war.

Many Lingnan artists migrated to Hong Kong during the turbulent times, including Guan Shan Yue, a key artist who actively pursued his art career in the city. "The green 'Great Wall'" is one of his iconic works.

Zhao Shao Ang painted the "Guilin at Dusk" in Hong Kong.

This exhibition showcases over 160 works from various museums in Guangdong. In addition to paintings, it also features contemporary sculptures to present Guangdong's art in the past century from different perspectives.

The exhibition is co-organized by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism and the Hong Kong Cultural, Sports and Tourism Bureau. Chief Executive John Lee said the exhibition exemplifies Hong Kong's role as a cultural centre where East meets West.

Zheng Yanxiong, Director of the Central Government's Office in Hong Kong, noted that the city should serve as a super connector, blending global trends with Chinese culture to maintain civilization on the world stage.
