CE calls for strengthening of patriotism as exhibition on Guangdong art opens

The Guangdong Art Centennial Exhibition is held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, displaying more than 160 works of art by modern masters, including paintings from the Anti-Japanese War period.

Chief Executive John Lee said at the opening ceremony that he would continue to promote the enhancement of patriotism in society.

Lee said this year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. The SAR Government will hold different types of commemorative activities to enhance the patriotic spirit of the society.

Lee said the government has established an Office to Promote Chinese Culture and organise the Chinese Culture Festival every year to further enhance the national confidence of Hong Kong citizens.

He encouraged the art community to remember the strong will of the martyrs who fought for the survival of the nation.
