Ukrainian ex-politician shot dead outside Madrid school

A former Ukrainian politician was shot dead in the Spanish capital after dropping off his kids at school.
The attackers are still at large.
52-year-old Andrii Portnov was found in a parking lot outside the American School of Madrid.
The crime scene has been cordoned off by police.
Authorities said Portnov was shot in the head and body several times as he was about to get into a vehicle.
Portnov was previously a senior aide to removed former pro-Russian Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych.
Portnov served as deputy head of the presidential office from 2010 to 2014.
He was involved in drafting legislation aimed at persecuting participants of the 2014 revolution in Ukraine.
