MTR Chairman highlights 99.9 percent performance

Regarding the service disruptions caused by engineering train malfunctions on the East Rail Line in March and April, the MTR chairman acknowledged and apologised for the incidents, and vows to investigate while emphasising their 99.9 percent performance is one of the best in the world.
Rex Auyeung Pak-kuen, MTR Non-executive Chairman: "In terms of incidents, we do have studies from outside, and based on the outside reports that I have seen, Hong Kong MTR service has always been rated as one of the best in the world. Also, recently, there is a travel magazine that was out about a month ago. It really shows that out of all the studies they have done, over 50 cities, Hong Kong has the best public system in the world. So overall, obviously any incident is not good enough as far as I am concerned. Our job is to continue to improve on the service, but when I sit back and compare us to other set of systems, I do have confidence that we can continue to provide very good service to our Hong Kong public."
