Phew! Pakistan swelters in 48C heat

A heatwave has brought temperatures of 48 degrees Celsius to parts of Pakistan.
The highs were measured in Rahim Yar Khan, Jacobabad and Turbat in the northwest of Pakistan while DG Khan, Nokundi, Dadu and Sukkur hit 47 degrees Celsius.
According to Pakistan's Metrological Department, most parts of the country will remain under the grip of heatwave for the next three to four days.
These pictures are from nearby Karachi, on the coast, where the mercury rose to about 38 degrees.
