The Centre for Health Protection announced two serious COVID cases involving children.
One of them is a 17-month-old girl.
Some health specialists expect the latest COVID wave to remain for three to four months.
The two infected children are hospitalised at Queen Mary Hospital and under observation at the intensive care unit.
A 17-month-old patient had a record of good health but began coughing and running a fever on Friday.
She was diagnosed with a combination of COVID, adenovirus and rhinovirus.
She has yet to receive her first COVID vaccine.
The other patient, a 13-year-old girl, received her first COVID jab.
