India's foreign secretary claims Pakistan violated a ceasefire agreed on Saturday. A short while later, Pakistan's Foreign Ministry accused India of doing the same.
India's Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri says: "For the last few hours, there have been repeated violations of the understanding arrived at earlier this evening between the Director's General of Military Operations of India and Pakistan. This is a breach of the understanding arrived at earlier today. The armed forces are giving an adequate and appropriate response to these violations and we take very very serious notice of these violations."
Multiple explosions were heard in two big cities of Indian-controlled Kashmir hours after India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire deal following the US-led talks to end the most serious military confrontation between the nuclear-armed rivals in decades.
Cross-border shelling and gunfire was also reported from at least five places along the Line of Control, a de-facto frontier that divides disputed Kashmir between two nuclear-armed nations.
Meanwhile, a large number of supporters of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League held a rally to celebrate the ceasefire. The participants of the rally marched through Karachi and chanted slogans like "Long live Pakistan" and "Long Live Nawaz Sharif."
