A batch of respiratory swabs supplied to Kowloon West hospitals are suspected to have been contaminated.
Some tested "weakly positive" for COVID-19.
The affected swabs were used at Princess Margaret, Caritas, Kwai Chung, North Lantau, and Yan Chai hospitals.
Routine checks found 18 of 100 samples from the same batch tested COVID-positive.
Experts believe the sealed swabs were contaminated before delivery. The Hospital Authority has halted the use of the supplier's swabs.
It stated the residual virus is inactive, non-infectious and poses no health risk to patients.
