China and Russia set for even closer ties, says academic

A political academic said China and Russia will forge even closer cooperation in the future as they tackle global geopolitical challenges.
At the Victory Day military parade, President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin appeared together at Moscow's Red Square. Xi and Putin often chatted to each other during the parade.
Chiu Yu-lok, a Hong Kong international relations academic, said the two leaders have created an impression that they are inseparable.
He said their relations suggest closer cooperation as they together face geopolitical challenges under the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era.
