Positive rates for COVID-19 reach 1-year record-high

The Centre for Health Protection said the latest positive rates for COVID-19 and viral loads in wastewater have reached their highest levels over a one-year period.
Some lawmakers suggested more residents should be given access to COVID vaccinations free of charge.
In the latest COVID figures released by the CHP, health authorities recorded more than 970 positive coronavirus cases between the 27th of last month and the 3rd of this month.
That's a rise of 16 percent from last week's 838 cases.
31 of those were serious or fatal cases.
The daily infection tally this week reached a maximum of 199 cases.
The XDV variant has become especially prevalent.
It has been found in more than 90 percent of all cases.
