President Xi Jinping is on a 4-day state visit to Russia, where he had meetings with President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin. Xi said the two nations will defend their rights and interests in the face of unilateralism and bullying.
At around 10 a.m. Moscow time, President Xi Jinping arrived at the Kremlin. Russian President Vladimir Putin was there to greet Xi and the two leaders shook hands.
A welcome ceremony was held for Xi before the two held talks. Putin said Xi's visit carries significant meaning, and he will visit China again. The Russian leader said their continuously developing relations are beneficial to the people of both countries.
President Xi noted the two leaders this year had online meetings and phone conversations, keeping bilateral relations on track. Xi said the relationship between China and Russia is deepening, with strengthened cooperation in a new era of bilateral ties.
He added that China "is ready to work with Russia to safeguard the authority and status of the United Nations, as well as defending the rights and interests of the two countries amid unilateralism and bullying."
Xi also said the two nations will "jointly promote a correct historical perspective on World War II, an equal, orderly multipolar world and a universally inclusive economic globalisation."
On Friday, Xi will attend the 80th anniversary of Russia's Victory Day celebrations at Moscow's Red Square.
The Chinese President arrived at Vnukovo Airport in Moscow at 7 p.m. local time on Wednesday, kicking off his four-day state visit. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova was among the senior government officials who welcomed Xi. Accompanied by Golikova, Xi inspected the honour guard.
The four-day visit marks Xi's 11th trip to Russia since he became China's president.
