Beijing says it is firmly opposed to the United States' cancellation of duty-free access for low-value shipments from China.
Ministry of Commerce spokesperson He Yadong says that the move will harm the interests of businesses and consumers in both countries.
The White House ended U.S. duty-free access for low-value shipments worth 800 U.S dollars or less from China on Friday, removing the de minimis exemptions that benefits e-commerce firms such as Shein and Temu.
He said cross-border e-commerce offers unique advantages such as high efficiency, fast delivery and low costs. He added that this will not change the rapid development of cross-border e-commerce, saying China is willing to work with all countries to boost the sector.
