A spotted seal pup was recently born at the Wuhan Polar Ocean Resort in Hubei, weighing 8.7 kg and measuring 78cm in length, with pure white fur.
Spotted seals are first-class protected species in China and are known as the 'giant panda in the sea' -- they are the only pinniped species that can reproduce in Chinese waters. This marks the first successful spotted seal breeding in Hubei in a decade.
