The UK has been celebrating 80 years since victory in World War II with festivities watched over by King Charles and the Royal Family.
Big Ben heralded the start of proceedings. Monday is a holiday across the UK and Britain started its commemorations ahead of the official V-E Day on the eighth of May.
The nation's war memorial was covered with the Union Jack for the first time in a ceremony like this.
A military parade swept past heading toward Buckingham Placewhere the Royals headed by the King were waiting.
Soldiers from Ukraine were also part of the groupas Britain continues to support Kyiv in its war with Russia.
The King was joined by Queen Camilla, the Prince and Princess of Wales, - William and Catherine - and their children.Prime Minister Keir Starmer was also watching.
The King saluted the procession and then chatted with veterans or the relatives of those in fought in the wars.
