Crowds flock to Cheung Chau for the annual Bun Festival

The annual Cheung Chau Bun Festival has drawn revellersonto the outlying island this morning.
 
There will be the Piu Sik Parade in the afternoon, with the signature bun-scrambling contest expected to start in the early evening with the finals starting at 11.30 p.m.

Unicorn dance and martial arts were performed with percussion instruments, such as suona and gong at the Pak Tai Temple this morning.

The Cheung Chau pier was packed with visitors, who made their way through the packed streets for the Cheung Chau Bun Festival.

Some traditional bun-streaming workshops were also crowded with locals and tourists. These white rolls are stamped with the red Chinese characters "Ping on," meaning peace and safety in English.
