The Housing Authority has received around 3,900 reports under its Public Housing Abuse Tip-Off Reward Scheme as of the end of March.
About 1,700 people who filed tip-offs opted into the reward programme. After initial screening, including in-person interviews, around 700 cases were deemed suitable for follow-up investigation.
Launched in mid-January, the scheme offers up to 3,000 dollars in cash if the informant's evidence leads to a formal eviction notice against tenants found to be abusing public housing.
The Housing Department will present awards twice a year, with the first ceremony to be held behind closed doors at the Housing Authority headquarters mid-year.
Separately, a similar scheme by the Housing Society has received four reports in just over 20 days since its launch.
