Mexico's President Claudia Sheinbaum says she has rejected Donald Trump's plan to send American troops into her country to help fight drug trafficking.
Trump has threatened Mexico with large trade tariffs if it doesn't stop the flow of illegal drugs and tighten the border.
Sheinbaum was speaking after what the Wall Street Journal called a tense phone call last month in which Trump reportedly pressured Mexico to accept a bigger role for U.S. forces in combating drug cartels.
She told her supporters that Trump said: "I propose that the United States military come in and help you."
She continued: "And you know what I said to him? 'No, President Trump.'"
The Mexican leader added that "sovereignty is not for sale."
