South Korea's former acting president Han Duck-soo has announced his presidential bid just a day after resigning from his role as acting President and Prime Minister.

Han made the announcement in Seoul at the South Korean National Assembly on Friday morning.

Han said if he is elected, his top priority would be to amend South Korea's Constitution within the first three years of presidency.

Han, 75, is a career bureaucrat with about 40 years of public service and a Harvard doctorate in economics.

He has held may top posts under both conservative and liberal governments, including trade minister, finance minister and ambassador to the U.S.
