Sunflower seed product recalled owing to cancer-inducting toxin contamination

A sunflower seed product has been recalled after it was suspected of being contaminated with cancer-inducing toxins.
The Centre for Food Safety said the product could have been contaminated with aflatoxins.
Authorities contacted the local importer, with preliminary findings indicating that the affected batch of products was distributed to a retailer.
The aflatoxins found in the product have exceeded legal limits in Hong Kong.
This as the Centre for Food Safety urged residents not to consume the product, with its importer stating that the remaining batch has either been destroyed or are no longer available for sale.
