Australian non-permanent judge Robert French has stepped down from the Court of Final Appeal.
Judicial authorities said the 78-year-old already submitted his resignation to Chief Executive John Lee.
The judiciary noted French stressed his continual respect for the independence and integrity of all judges in the Court of Final Appeal.
Representatives of the city's judicial system thanked French for his contributions to the CFA and support for the rule of law in Hong Kong.
After his departure, the CFA retains five non-local non-permanent judges.
