大家好，歌劇《悲慘世界》Les Miserables的女主角命運坎坷，她在過身前唱了這首I Dreamed a Dream。

在歌中她夢見自己曾經那麼開心，多麽無憂無慮。

那時我仍年輕無懼，曾經築夢虛耗青春，而毋須付出任何代價，無歌不唱，無酒不嚐。(Then I was young and unafraid, and dreams were made and used and wasted. There was no ransom to be paid, no song unsung, no wine untasted.)

Ransom是贖金，比如說綁匪要求贖金(The kidnappers demand a ransom)。

Ransom在歌中是指女主角為了生活付出的代價。她不只要做苦工，連自己的頭髮和肉體都要出賣。

她也曾經遇過好人。

他令我的生活無限精彩，他也沒有當我的年少無知是一回事。(He filled my days with endless wonder. He took my childhood in his stride.)

To take something in one's stride 這句意思是指，以平常心去對待一件事。比如說這句 He took the criticisms in his stride，意思是指他從容地面對批評。

Stride是指走路的步伐，也可以引伸為某些事情的發展。

比如說這句 We have made great stride in containing the spread of COVID，我們在控制疫情上取得重大進展。

再說這首歌，女主角最後提到，生活已經摧毀了她的夢 (But life has killed the dream i dreamed)。
