《睇新聞‧講英文》英國哈里王子愛上梅根 點解同「星星」有關

早前英國王室宣布，英國的哈里王子將會迎娶認識一年多的美國演員梅根。

記者們就問哈里王子，何時開始愛上梅根。哈里王子形容一看見她便愛上了，即是一見鍾情(love at first sight)，一起看看。

哈里王子說：「我很快便愛上了梅根，因為我感到肯定，連星星都連成一線(all the stars were aligned)，所有事情都好完美。」

為甚麼哈里王子會說all the stars were aligned，難道哈里王子是在天文異象的情況下愛上梅根？

這當然不是，all the stars were aligned是一個諺語。Stars是星星，很多粒星形成一條線便是aligned。The stars were aligned的意思是，一個很難得的情況，the stars were aligned。哈里王子愛上梅根是很難得的，一見鍾情，all the stars were aligned。

我明白用法了。我記得有位荷里活演員就說過，「As an actor, you never know what's going to happen. I got very lucky; the stars aligned nicely」，意指演員永遠不知道下一刻會發生甚麼事，都要靠「天時、地利、人和」，各樣條件都要配合得很好。
