Health officials have classified a female employee of a Diamond Hill school as the second locally-originated Chikungunya case.
This after confirming a link between the patient and the first locally acquired case.
The Centre for Health Protection said the genetic sequencing of the virus sample from the 55-year-old school worker matched that of the first locally originated case.
This indicates a common source of infection.
However, authorities believe this would not significantly impact the overall assessment, because the school worker's infection occurred before the government's mosquito control measures.
