Veteran actor Benz Hui Siu-hung passed away at 76

Veteran actor Benz Hui Siu-hung passed away at the age of 76.

Over a career spanning more than 50 years, Hui acted in many TV dramas and films, oftenly in comic roles.

Born in 1948, Hui was raised in an influential family. His ancestor was a top salt merchant in Guangzhou.

His great-aunt was the wife of writer Lu Xun, one of the giants of Chinese literature, who gave up a career in medicine to become a writer, with works that included "The True Story Ah Q".

Some of Hui's most iconic performances appeared in "Police Cadet," "The Justice of Life," and "The Link."

In 1999, he appeared in movie "Running Out of Time" that earned a nomination in the Hong Kong Film Award for best supporting actor.

Being a familiar face on TV, he was honoured several times at TVB Anniversary Awards. In recent years, he moved to Singapore with his family members.

As news of his hospitalization broke, former colleagues paid visits to him and shared memories of working with him.
