Filipino maid arrested on suspicion of child abuse case in Sai Wan

A Filipino domestic helper was arrested on suspicion of being involved in a child abuse case in Sai Wan.

Sources say the maid allegedly spat in a cup before mixing it with milk powder and feeding it to a child on four occasions.

The police said they received a report from the infant's mother at around 9:30 a.m. of her 4-year-old daughter being treated inappropriately at their residence in The Belcher's.

Subsequent police investigation led to the arrest of a 37-year-old domestic helper.

The girl did not suffer from any noticeable injuries and was not sent to the hospital.

Reports say the mother earlier discovered the maid had spat in the food that she was cooking for her daughter.

The maid denied the accusation, but CCTV footage captured inside the residence showed her spitting inside the cup used by the girl on four occasions between last Saturday and this Thursday.
