Following Joshua Wong's sentencing, Chief Executive John Lee says Wong and his accomplices are the culprits responsible for undermining Hong Kong's prosperity and stability.

A Beijing spokesperson, meanwhile, maintains its support for the SAR's upholding on national security.

Following Josha Wong's 10-year prison sentence, Chief Executive John Lee issued a statement in response, pointing out Joshua Wong, Nathan Law and their accomplices as being the primary culprits responsible for undermining Hong Kong's prosperity and stability.

He said they had obstructed the HKSAR government's efforts to promote national education, set up radical organisations, incited students to engage in unlawful acts, and advocated the notions of "Hong Kong independence" and "self-determination".

Secretary for Security Chris Tang noted he will discuss with Department of Justice to see if there is a need to appeal of sentence.

He criticised external forces have launched malicious attacks against SAR government.

Those launching attacks against us are exactly the same external forces that Joshua Wong and Nathan Law attempt to collude.

They must be strongly condemned and Hong Kong citizens must recognise and acknowledged that clearly.

In fact, Wong pleaded guilty and Wong was sentenced through fair and open judiciary proceedings and fully demonstrate the rule of law that the court of the HKSAR have consistently upheld.

The Office for Safeguarding National Security of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR stated the heavy sentence handed down by the court to is a forceful defence of the dignity of the rule of law regarding national security.

Meanwhile, the Chief Superintendent of Police National Security Department Steve Li appealed to Nathan Law, who fled overseas, to surrender.

He expressed hope Wong would reflect deeply on his actions during his imprisonment.

In Beijing, Ministry of Foreign Affairs stands firm in support of HKSAR maintaining national security in accordance with the law.

Faced with overwhelming facts and evidence, Wong have no grounds of defence and pleaded guilty.

The central government of China firmly supports the HKSAR in safeguarding national security acts endangering national security in accordance to the law.

Relevant parties should respect China's sovereignty and the rule of law in Hong Kong.

Stop making irresponsible remarks on the SAR's judicial process and stop interfering Hong Kong's judicial affairs and China's internal affairs in any form.
