Construction worker died after being struck by dump truck

A female construction worker was struck and killed by a dump truck at a construction site in Sha Tin.

The involved dump truck stopped by the roadside after the incident.

Police seized a helmet believed to belong to the female worker.

The site belongs to the Civil Engineering and Development Department for the construction of Trunk Road T4, connecting Sha Tin Road and Tsing Sha Highway.

The 61-year-old female worker was responsible for washing the tires of vehicles leaving the Sha Tin Road site.

At around 11am, a dump truck struck her from behind.

She suffered head bleeding and fell unconscious at the scene, where paramedics subsequently certified her dead.

Police have arrested the 34-year-old dump truck driver.
