The hearing on Abby Choi's murder case continues at the High Court. The prosecution played CCTV footage captured prior to the murder of Choi showing her former father-in-law Kwong Kau purchasing a second-hand fridge.
He subsequently met with his sons Anthony and Alex Kwong at a cafe on the day of Choi's death, during which both brothers gestured attacking motions.
The three defendants -- Abby Choi's ex-husband Alex Kwong, his father Kwong Kau and brother Anthony Kwong, were charged with murder and preventing the lawful burial of a body.
All three have pleaded not guilty to the murder charge, but pleaded guilty to the second charge.
This as the prosecution summoned an exhibit officer surnamed Ng.
During the hearing, footage acquired by Ng via CCTV showed Kwong Kau purchasing a second-hand fridge in Sham Shui Po four days before Choi's death. The shop staff assisted Kwong with moving the fridge to the trunk of his car, during which Kwong removed his mask to have a smoke.
On the same evening, Kwong Kau and Anthony Kwong drove their private cars separately to the Lung Mei Village unit where the crime took place. The prosecution then played another piece of CCTV footage on the day of Choi's death -- capturing Choi's final appearance alive in the Kadoorie Hill residence.
The video showed Anthony Kwong and Alex Kwong leaving the unit at around 12 p.m., after which Choi brought an agent and interested buyers to inspect the residence. After the latter's departure, Choi was seen playing with her mobile phone in the living room, before leaving at around 2:30pm.
At the same time, Alex Kwong and Anthony Kwong met at a cafe in Mong Kok's MOKO shopping mall where they chatted for around 45 minutes. The footage showed Anthony Kwong mimicking striking motions, after which Alex Kwong nodded and made similar gestures.
After 2:30 p.m., the pair picked up Choi at the Kadoorie Hill residence. Some 45 minutes later, the three defendants reached the Lung Mei Village unit separately, at which point Anthony Kwong and Alex Kwong were seen carrying a large plastic box inside the unit.
The former was then seen making a phone call outside the residence telling the other caller to hail a taxi to head to the school attended by Choi and Alex Kwong's daughter. The prosecution said the other caller was Choi's ex-mother-in-law Jenny Li.
As for Kwong Kau, he left his Tsuen Wan residence at around 10 a.m. on the day of Choi's death, and made his way to a telecom company to purchase two SIM cards. The prosecution said the two cards were bought under a monthly contract, with the contracts for the cards later found on a table in the Lung Mei Village unit, while one card was found inside Alex Kwong's phone during his arrest.
