Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Saturday talked with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Black Sea security and a trilateral meeting involving Ukraine, Russia and the US.

In Istanbul, the two leaders discussed ensuring safe passage in the Black Sea, a security space that Ukraine shares with Turkey and its neighbours in the region, as well as measures to restore normal living conditions.

Zelenskyy said at a joint news conference that preparations were underway for a Ukraine-Russia-US trilateral meeting to take place in the first half of November.

He said he talked about the prospects for this format with the President Erdogan as well as other possibilities, specifically the potential to involve Turkey, Europe, and all of Ukraine's partners.

They also discussed the possibility of holding such a meeting in Turkey.
