Crowds flooded the streets of Belgrade and other Serbian cities on Sunday in an outburst of celebration after a student-led opposition movement defeated long-serving populist leader Aleksandar Vucic with students calling their victory "absolutely amazing."
Serbians sang anti-establishment songs, and danced following the seismic political shift.
Vucic, who had ruled with absolute power for 14 years, conceded defeat after voters cast ballots for the 250-member parliament.
"This is absolutely amazing and all the hard work and all the love in the country paid off." said student Igor Pantelic.
Opposition projections indicated that the youth-backed Students' List will secure between 135 and 140 seats.
