Today is "Frost's Descent", the 18th of the 24 solar terms. The Observatory

recorded an afternoon high of 32.3 degrees, making it

the hottest Frost's Descent on record since records began in 1884.

Frost's Descent is the final solar term before the onset of winter,

signifying that the weather is gradually turning colder

and that the first frost is appearing.

However, this year's Frost's Descent did not feel chilly at all.

The Observatory recorded an afternoon high of 32.3 degrees.

Districts such as Happy Valley, Kowloon City, and Yuen Long

all recorded 33 degrees or above, while Sheung Shui exceeded 34 degrees.

Checking the Observatory's records, the previous hottest Frost's

Descent in Hong Kong was in 2006, when the maximum temperature reached 31 degrees.

Meanwhile, the coldest Frost's Descent was in 1981, at only 14.9 degrees.

A Hong Kong Observatory spokesperson said

As a tropical cyclone is near Taiwan, the weather in southeastern China is fine.

At the same time, a dry northeast monsoon is also affecting Guangdong,

so Hong Kong has experienced plenty of sunshine and dry weather today

A traditional Chinese medical practitioner said In principle,

dietary recommendations suggest clearing heat,

but without being overly cold and cooling.

He recommended pears, hawthorn, lily bulbs, almonds,

candied dates, and items of that nature.

The Observatory forecasts that urban minimum temperatures

will be around 24 degrees over the weekend,

with a relatively large temperature difference between day and night.
