Grandma & helper arrested over alleged ill treatment of 11yo girl

An 11-year-old girl posted videos online in which she appeared to be severely berated by her family.

After police probes, while the case doesn't constitute abuse, the 11-year-old was found to sustain redness and swelling on her limb. Her 61-year-old grandmother and the family's 43-year-old domestic helper have reportedly been arrested in Wong Tai Sin on Friday -- on suspicion of ill treatment or neglect of a child or young person in their care.

One video that circulated online shows the girl tried to seek help from netizens with sounds of someone knocking on the door. In another clip, a man became so agitated that he slammed on the table. The case was referred to the police on Thursday over allegedly ill treatment towards the girl.

It's understood the man shown in the clip was her grandfather. Sources say the girl has special education needs and there's ongoing follow-up of her case by her school's social workers.
