Pope Leo XIV's surgeon said Saturday there were no clinical reasons preventing the pontiff from travelling to Latin America as planned next month, adding that he expected him
to make a full physical recovery within about 10 days.
Prof. Stefano Margaritora, chief thoracic surgeon at Rome's Gemelli Hospital told Vatican media that the pope had made good progress following surgery and
was expected to recover in time for his November trip.
Margaritora described Leo as an ideal patient who followed medical advice and exceeded expectations during his recovery.
Meanwhile, dozens of well-wishers greeted Pope Leo as he arrived at the Vatican after leaving hospital.
This tourist from Lima, Peru wished the Pope to "get better, improve everyday, and stay with us for much longer."
