Starting Saturday, the city's month-long Halloween festivities kicked off in various districts.

Over the past years, the spooky parade took over Lan Kwai Fong on the eve of Halloween but the legions of ghouls and spirits have come to haunt the city early this year. By around 8 pm, nightlife hotspot Lan Kwai Fong was already packed to the brim with revellers. Some dressed in spooky costumes. Others as popular gaming characters. This Malaysian tourist says the atmosphere is electric noting how special that Halloween festivities in Hong Kong can last a whole month.

Lan Kwai Fong also arranged for six roving Halloween ghouls to amp up the spooky vibes. Some bars are also hoping the events will buoy footfall with reservations for the first day of the Halloween Month fully booked. The bar manager says they hope momentum will stay fully maxed out through October with business expected to surge at least 50% over the next two weeks.

Nearby Statue Square in Central is matching that eerie energy. Can a princess and a skeleton ever make a matching pair? Adults, children -- and even furry pets are getting an early start on their Halloween celebrations. This massive, nearly two-storey-tall eyeball installation becomes even more "eye-catching" after nightfall. The Tourism Board is turning the entire month of October into Hong Kong's first-ever official "Halloween Month." The main arena of the Kai Tak Sports Park will transform into a giant Halloween pumpkin, while Mong Kok, Tsim Sha Tsui and other districts host themed events. Visitors dressed in full costume can enjoy free rides on specially decorated Halloween trams.
