Kyiv says the Russian airstrikes continue to pound Ukrainian energy facilities despite US President Donald Trump's self-declared "energy truce" between the two warring states.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy notes he supports steps toward de-escalation but will continue strikes if Russia violates such a truce.

The Kremlin says further information about talks on the proposal will be released in due course, while rebuffing Zelenskyy's call for a longer 60-day ceasefire in the lead-up to a presidential election.

Donald Trump has announced cutting a deal with Moscow to bring Russian diesel to the market and lashed out at Zelenskyy, noting he should be blamed for soaring gas prices that piled pressure for the Republicans' chances in the looming US midterms.

On Sunday, Trump writes in a social media post that Russia and Ukraine have agreed to immediately halt blows on each other's energy infrastructure.

Expressing support for the purported agreement, the Ukrainian leader makes clear that his country is counting on the same readiness from the Kremlin.

"We are asking President Trump to give them a signal not to attack energy system of Ukraine," Zelenskyy says during an interview with ABC News' "This Week" aired on Sunday. Zelenskyy also responds to Trump's recent call on Ukraine to get a new president with pledges to hold elections if Russia agreed to a full 60-day ceasefire.

This as Ukraine's presidential elections, originally due in 2024, are barred by its Constitution under martial law due to Russia's invasion.

Zelenskyy insists it's up to Ukrainians to choose their leader. Russia, for its part, stresses it wants long-term peace, arguing Ukraine's idea of the temporary ceasefire is aimed at regrouping forces to resume fighting.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov adds President Vladimir Putin will be prepared to hold back strikes on election days if Ukraine genuinely intends to facilitate an election. Ukrainian authorities report on Monday Russians keep on hitting their energy facilities in Kyiv and in the northeastern city of Kharkiv.

In Bucha district of Kyiv, firefighters battled a blaze that engulfed warehouses belonging to an industrial facility as a result of a night-time attack by a Russian drone. Local officials say efforts are continuing to extinguish the fire.

Concurrently, Russia's internet giant Yandex confirms its data centre in Vladimir was hit by Ukrainian drone strike. Operations at the data centre have been completely halted. It marks the third Yandex hub to be attacked within less a week following similiar strikes in Ryazan and Kaluga regions.

The decommissioning of the company's facilities has roiled its services in dozens of Russian cities as well as in Kazakhstan, Belarus and Armenia, disrupting users' everyday tasks from ride-hailing services to online shopping.
