"He will be killed. He will be, through firing squad.” US President Donald Trump approves of the execution by firing squad of Fort Hood shooter Nidal Malik Hasan.

Hasan, an army psychiatrist, was convicted of killing 13 people in 2009 at Fort Hood in Texas is scheduled to be executed by firing squad on December 3.

If the execution goes ahead, it would be the first US military execution since 1961 and the first public exeuction in America in close to a century.

Despite supporting the execution, Trump did not appear to answer when asked whether it was appropriate to livestream the event or whether he was going to watch the execution.

Vice President JD Vance, who was asked about the livestream on a separate occasion, says he will not be tuning in, while expressing doubt about the plan.
