At the High Court hearing on Abby Choi's murder case, Choi's mother continued to testify today.

She said Choi mentioned how her former father-in-law Kwong Kau -- one of the defendants -- refused to sell a property she purchased, threatening that if he's forced to do so, he will kill her.

The three defendants: Abby Choi's former husband Alex Kwong, his father Kwong Kau and brother Anthony Kwong face charges of murder and preventing the lawful burial of a body.

Continuing her testimony, the victim's mother Cheung Yin-fa detailed the timeline from her daughter's relationship with Alex Kwong to their divorce.

She said conflicts arose after Kwong Kau learned that Choi was preparing to sell their apartment in Kadoorie Hill.

Choi mentioned in a phone recording in June 2022 that Kwong Kau was unwilling to sell the property.

By September that same year when Cheung called Kwong Kau to discuss the matter, he still refused to sell and reportedly threatened, "If you dare, I'll kill your whole family," to which Cheung replied, "Let the law decide, see you in court."

By the end of October, Kwong Kau ultimately agreed to sell the property.

The court also plays the conversation recordings between Cheung and Choi in Hainanese.

They mentioned their property bought in Hainan, which Cheung says, was purchased by her daughter but registered under Kwong Kau's name.

The pair disputed over the case before Kwong agreed to sell the property.

Other assets registered under Kwong Kau's name but belong to Choi include two cars -- a Rolls Royce and a black seven-seater.

On another voice recording played in court, Cheung explained her daughter talked about how she had been taking care of Kwong Kau, his son and his wife but he beat her.

But Cheung noted that she was not present when Kwong Kau beat her.

WeChat message correspondence between Cheung Yin-fa and Choi, revealed Kwong Kau originally went to a law firm on November 1, 2022, to sign the agreement to sell the Kadoorie Hill property, but it was delayed at least twice.

Cheung suggested her daughter pay several million dollars in stamp duty to transfer the property from under Kwong Kau to her own name.

Abby Choi visits the property every day to visit her children, sometimes accompanied by her current husband Chris Tam.

The prosecution then asked Cheung when the last time she contacted her daughter was.

Cheung Yin-fa said it was around 2 pm on February 21, 2023, when Choi said she was going to pick up her younger daughter from school.

That night, Choi's husband Tam called Cheung to ask about Choi's whereabouts.

Cheung said she couldn't reach her daughter's phone and tried calling her driver -- who is Alex Kwong's brother Anthony Kwong, to inquire.

But Anthony Kwong denied knowledge of her whereabouts angrily.

Cheung said she and Tam reported the situation to the police at around 11 pm.

When she told Alex Kwong about that, he chastised Cheung in foul language, questioning why she didn't tell him in advance that she filed a missing person report -- and tried to persuade her not to do so.
