First Lady Peng Liyuan tours museum in Washington with US First Lady

During the Xi-Trump meeting, First Ladies of the two countries visited the Smithsonian National Museum of Asian Art in Washington.

China's first lady Peng Liyuan and US first lady Melania Trump toured the museum's Peacock Room created by American artist James McNeill Whistler.

The pair looked at a stone disk from ancient China, along with "Princess from the Land of Porcelain," an oil painting by Whistler.

Later, a youth choir serenaded the first ladies with renditions of famous Chinese folk song "Jasmine Flower."

Peng, a former famed soprano, sang along quietly.

Peng encouraged American teenagers to continue studying the Chinese language and culture and to become envoys of friendship between the two nations.
