Huang Dafu, HKID-holding triad head's death sentence upheld in Hubei

Huang Dafu, a Hong Kong ID-holding triad leader from Hubei Province, was sentenced to death for involvement in multiple violent demolition cases and running a mafia-style organisation -- leading to one death and multiple serious injuries.

The court rejected Huang's appeal, upheld the death penalty, and ordered immediate execution today.

The province's Public Security Bureau says after busting the largest and most influential gang-related group in recent years in the area, authorities arrested the ringleader Huang Dafa in 2023.

In the first trial this April, he was sentenced to death and had all his personal assets confiscated.

Mainland media reported that the 64-year-old holds a Hong Kong ID card and was elected a village head in Wuhan before he founded a real estate company and took advantage of urban village redevelopment opportunities to illegally profit from them.

It is reported that one month before his arrest, Huang purchased a house in Repulse Bay in Hong Kong for over 450 million dollars -- allegedly for asset transferral.
